This week has been a sad one for me. Besides bombing a couple of midterm tests, the news of the world has been especially bothersome this week. On my favorite cable networks, Bravo, Andy Cohen hosts a show called Watch What Happens Live, in which, he does a Mazel of the Week and a Jackhole of the Week award- basically the equivalent of cheers and jeers. So here is mine:Mazel to the people of Libya for finally being free of Moammar Gadhafi, a leader who kept them oppressed for over forty years. But shame on Reuters and other various news outlets for posting/showing graphic videos and pictures of his brutal killing and dead body. Gross and unnecessary. Children, old people and those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome could have been watching! Have you no consideration?
The Jackhole of the Week goes to Terry Thompson, the owner of the exotic animal farm in Ohio who killed himself but not before releasing all of his animals from their cages. Dude, what were you thinking? If you loved and cared for those animals all those years, why set them free and basically guarantee their death (they should have only been tranquilized, but that is a whole separate issue)? Good thing you are already dead because I know there are some animal right's activists that would have loved to get their hands on you if you weren't.
