Meth Lab Daycare and Sumo Runner

Ooopsies! I have been forgetting to blog. I was just having TOO much fun on Spring Break last week!

So, this is old new but still worth sharing. This is deplorable...and apparently it is becoming the newest way for people to legitimately run a business (without a license, that is) and smoke dope all day as well! Who said you can't have your cake and eat it too?! I kid.

In other happier news, congrats to this guy! While I would not want to be in the news as being the heaviest person to complete ANYTHING, kudos to him for having the strength to carry his 400 pound body 26 miles down the road. It is commendable that he is still able to walk, much less run a marathon. It is certainly not something I could do, and I am not morbidly obese...yet.

Happy Monday to you all! I promise I will be a more diligent blogger. I know you look forward to reading my personal thoughts on random news stories...pause...not!

A Hair-Razing Ordeal

This just made my day! Here are just a few alternate headlines for this story even though the picture itself is funny enough:

1. Man Makes Fun of Bad Haircut, Gets Cut

2. The Victim of Bad Haircut Is Perpetrator of Crime

3. Pro-Cuts Had a Half-off Sale

4. Now Trending: The HALF-fro

5. Stab and A Haircut, Two Bits!

A Boatload of "Buttload"

This is nonsensical! I cannot believe that the general public is so dumb that the dictionary will now include words such as "buttload." Everyone knows "buttload" is a word which derived from the word "boatload" being mispronounced. It is just sad that as a result of it being mispronounced so frequently, they just decided, what the hey, let's go ahead and make the mispronounced, made up word a legitimate word! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right?

Wrong. With that attitude, by 2012, schools in the U.S. will be teaching textspeak and/or Ebonics instead of English.

As a matter of fact, I don't particularly care for any of the words on the list. The only one that I think is remotely clever is "sexting," which actually is not anything to write home to Mom about either since it is just two words combined into one. The rest on the list just make me embarrassed to be living on this planet. Once Mars is livable for humans, I will be moving there. Heck, I may even write my own dictionary for my new planet! You can be certain, it will NOT include the word "buttload," which I am still not accepting as a REAL word.

MADD Drunk Driver

I've been thinking a lot about irony. I see it quite frequently in my everyday life. For example, the girl who is nearing the end of her college studies but can't even put a sentence together correctly, my cat who is severely overweight eating right next to a scale, the Accountant who is irresponsible with his finances.

All those things kind of make you chuckle, but this really takes the cake! I'll spare you the whole ''Drunk Driving is Bad" speech because everyone knows it- especially the former President of a Mother's Against Drunk Driving chapter!

I have seen a lot of mugshots, sometimes the people are crying, sometimes smiling, but none that I have seen have had that kind of crazy, angry, killer expression. She definitely looks MADD that she got caught! :)

Happy Monday everyone! Remember to appreciate ironic situations. It really makes for a good laugh.

Disclaimer: All are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law...even then, they may still have been innocent and just had a bad lawyer :)

Drug Mugs

Well, it is has been a while since I have blogged, mostly because I haven't found anything newsworthy enough to write about.

I came across this article tonight, and it is things like this that make you realize how serious drug addiction really is. I have had an up close and personal view of it myself, but for those who have not, I imagine these would be some really shocking images. I can attest that drugs truly do ruin lives and families. So, if any of these photos deter even one person from trying drugs, it is worth it.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer. It is just a really serious, sad subject, and my heart is heavy as I think of all of the families of addicts that are suffering. So, so, sad.

Parents, please talk to your kids about the consequences of drug use.

A Life For a Life

A friend sent this article to me, and I couldn't believe what I was reading. I still don't even know how I feel about it. On one hand, I think abortion is wrong (unless the mother's life is at risk), and in regard to murdering the doctors who murder the fetuses, the bible does say, "an eye for an eye..." On the other hand, two wrongs don't make a right, and murder is obviously never morally acceptable. So, I am very conflicted about this one. I will let you judge for yourself. However, I highly doubt this bill will pass seeing as it is unconstitutional, so it is nothing to lose sleep over. It is just something to think about, you know in case you ever get interviewed by a major, national magazine like Justin Bieber. Then, you will need to have an intelligent opinion on the matter.

Just wanted to share. Happy Friday!!!

Flava Flaaaaaaaaav!

Yeah boyee! I cannot even tell you how excited I am about this!

Anyone who knows me knows that my guilty pleasure is reality television. My first love is The Real Housewives series, but there is room in my heart for others. I definitely will be watching Flava Flav's new show. I know, I know, he is a greasy, little sleazeball of a D-list celebrity who wears a full-sized clock as a necklace! However, you have to admit, he is quite entertaining and very funny. Plus, no matter who he is, you have admire a man of his age going back to school to get his high school diploma. Also, his motive is good (we are going to ignore the fact that he is a washed-up 80's rapper, crack addict and criminal, and is most likely doing the show in part because of the thousands of dollars they are paying him). He wants to be a role model for adults who may feel like they cannot go back to school. That is commendable.

Who knows, maybe he will go on to college and study Horology! Look out, Rolex, you might have some pint-sized competition! :)

Saint Valentine, You Hopeless Romantic!

For those of you who hate Valentine's Day because you think it too commercialized and you are a cheapskate or a grumpy single, do remember that there is a good story behind every tradition and that it is worth celebrating.

Saint Valentine was a Roman priest in the third century who broke the law by marrying soldiers to the women they loved. He broke the law in the name of love. Isn't that sweet? :)

Anyway, to all of you single folks, Valentine's Day is a celebration of love- not necessarily of the love between a boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife. Just love, period. So, remember the one's you love today....or do what Dear Abby says and clean out your closets. Oh, what fun! [pause] Not!

P.S. Happy Valentine's Day to my one and only love, Drew. You will know how much you mean to me when you get your gift in 2-7 business days :)

A Little of This and A Little of That

Hi, my name is Rebekah and I am a Droidaholic. Well, more like a DroidWordsaholic. I got a new phone over the weekend- the EVO 4G-which is the reason for my absence in blogging. It is my first real smart phone and I just love it to pieces. I spend a good two hours a day playing DroidWords which is basically the electronic version of Scrabble. It is quite addicting and I am quite good :)

In other news, traffic this morning really tested my patience. I have a low tolerance for stupidity in general anyway, and normally, I wouldn't complain about such things on my blog, but I really thought I might find myself in a life or death road rage situation today in particular. Oh, I wanted to get out of the car so bad and rough that guy up a little, you know, let him know who is boss. The only reason I didn't is because I value MY life too much :) Im sure you don't want to hear about it...I just don't think think other drivers take me seriously. Maybe a bumper sticker that reads "Crazy On Board" might help them understand who they are dealing with.

Yesterday evening, I went to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth for College Night to see the Salvator Rosa Exhibit. I only went to receive extra credit in my Art Appreciation class. I don't really comprehend art beyond fingerpainting, however I really enjoyed this exhibit. It was a Docet-guided tour, and our guide was a little, old, German woman with a lot of spunk. She got so excited as she told us the story of each painting, and there were some really interesting pieces. He liked to paint scenes that told stories such as certain myths of his time. All had a certain darkness about them though, which I didn't like.

Anyway, that has been my week. Now, back to DroidWords.

Catch of the Day

1. Who the heck goes scuba diving in freezing water under a frozen lake?

2. What is the point of putting out a flag indicating that you are scuba diving nearby if no one knows what the flag symbolizes?

3. The guy's reaction to seeing the scuba diver's hand come out of the water when he "caught" him was priceless! He said, "I didn't know what to- if I should shake it, or what." Yeah, I'm thinking that would have just added insult to injury.

4. The fisherman is the one who ruined his scuba diving adventure, yet the diver brought him a beer as a peace offering. How does that make sense? I guess it was a nice gesture to say, "Sorry you thought you were catching the biggest fish you would probably ever see in your lifetime, but it turned out to be me."

5. Why did the divers have beer anyway? It is probably not safe to drink and dive.

6. If he would have killed and eaten the scuba diver, would it be considered murder? Hey, he caught him fair and square just like a fish!

Snow White in Texas

So, today is the first day we actually have snow and not just ice. I went out this morning to take pictures in true crazy lady style- with my slippers and bathrobe on. What was especially strange was how eerily quiet it was. Silence. No cars on the street, no sound of the gate opening and closing, no cars warming up in the parking lot. Pure silence. It was very bizarre.

Now, I am sitting here so bored that I even thought about cleaning. Good thing it was only a thought. :)

One thing that is worth mentioning is despite all this ice, snow and below freezing temperatures this past week, it will be sunny and 48 degrees on Super Bowl Sunday in Dallas/Fort Worth. God must really like football 'cause I know he is not doing it for Jerry Jones!

On another note, as you can see, I gave my blog a long-overdue makeover. It is still a work in progress, but I think it looks a lot better if I may say so myself! Thank you, JB and LC for your help.

The Tree Octopus and The Easter Bunny

How did you feel when you found out that the Easter Bunny isn't real...or global warming...or Weapons of Mass Destruction? Did you feel betrayed that you had believed a lie for so long?

Well, imagine how the kids felt that took part in a study which set out to prove that the Internet is making kids dumber. What a cruel trick disguised as research! I really wanted to believe in the Tree Octopus. It most likely would have replaced the sloth as my favorite animal.

I have news for you, Dr. Leu, if that is your real name...The Internet is a wonderful resource for finding out all kinds of magical information. It is up to us as logical human beings to discern what is real, fake, or if a particular website was maliciously created to trick kids into believing in the existence of wonderful, exotic, new creature. And it is the job of said kids' parents and teachers to teach them how to know the difference, as well. So, the problem is not the Internet, it is, as the article said, a lack of critical thinking skills being taught to today's children.

So, Doctor Leu, Department of Education, and Pearson Publishing, you did get one thing right: you can't always believe what you read on the Internet. For example, it is especially unbelievable and disheartening to me that my tax dollars funded such bogus and nonsensical research. You all didn't even use a fair sample of American children as participants. Instead, only poor children who were good readers (or as you all so delicately put it, your "50 best online readers" in 7th grade from "economically-challenged" areas) were included in the study.

So, next time you think about exploiting the trust and innocence of children, Dr. Leu, you might want to consider the hit your credibility might take when you openly admit that a study you have done was essentially based on a lie you told to little kids. You are no better than the guy in the white van that needs help finding his lost puppy. I'm going to look you up in the National Sex Offender Registry just for my own peace of mind.

Anderson Under Attack

Oh, what the heck?! I guess I violated copyright laws by uploading that video of Whitney Crackston. Ooopsies!

Speaking of crazy, those wacky protesters in Egypt attacked Anderson Cooper! Who in the world would want to cause harm to such a beautiful man? I get that they are angry and all, but daaaang! Lay off the innocent bystanders who only wish to exploit your bad behavior on American news stations with twenty-four hour coverage! Now, obviously, he would never be interested in me (or any other women), but I still admire his silver-foxiness...Oh, and his mad news reporting skills. But seriously, protesters, shame on you! He didn't deserve that. He is only reporting the news. Relax. Try yoga or something.

To Anderson: You took those jabs to your pretty face like a champ. Keep up the good work, and don't let the haters get you down. You keep doin' yo thang!

Crack is Whack

Well, it is 21 degrees here in Dallas/Fort Worth, and we Texans are certainly not used to this kind of weather. I am cuddled up on the couch and praying that Drew makes it home from work safely. Thankfully, my boss had sense and compassion enough not to make his employees drive through the ice and sleet to get to work today.

So, I finally figured out how to add videos to my blog. I am going to have fun with this feature! :) The video above is Whitney Houston and always spot-on Christian vocalist, Kim Burrell singing a very gospelesque version of I Look To You at some BET gospel thing. Now, I don't typically watch BET as it is literally called Black Entertainment Television, and clearly, I am not their target demographic. However, I do love black gospel music. Weird, I know...and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE me some Whitney. But poor Whitney. Gosh, she had such talent! If only she could stay off the pipe. (For the record, I think her voice is improving from what I heard out of her in 2010. But she still has a long way to go to get back to the Whitney she was in the 1990's.)

Now, I am not saying she is still smokin' crack 'cause I don't know. I don't live in the crack house with her. But for someone that used to have the voice of an angel and an amazing vocal range, her voice sure is raspy (like a grizzly bear), and she can't hit the high notes like she used to. Case and point: video number two. That was her trying to sing I Will Always Love You in London last year. Bless her heart, she didn't even try to belt it out as it is normally sung. She just kind of panted through it like a a dog on a 100 degree Texas day. Since again, I was not there, I will give her the benefit of doubt and assume that she had just run a marathon before the concert- perhaps to a crack house and back.

Anyway, Whitney, I Will Always Love You even if you are only a shell of your formerly talented self. But please get some help. I want the old Whitney back! You know, the one that sang power ballads like no one's business, and the one that didn't lie to Oprah about doing drugs.

So, let this be a lesson to you, kids, and straight from the horses' mouth, "Crack is whack, crack is cheap" and crack ruins lives.

Lies About Cancer

What causes cancer- any type? Well, many speculate, but nobody knows for sure. We only know that some contributing factors are genetics, diet, tobacco use, physical activity, certain types of infections and environmental exposures to different types of chemicals and radiation. This article wants you to know what doesn't cause cancer (but really, its purpose is to discredit prior scientific and clinical studies).

Now, I am no Scientist. Heck, I don't even remember the steps in the Scientific Method! However, I have long suspected that the daily use of products on and in our bodies are the culprits. How else can you explain why cancer was nearly non-existent 100 years ago, but is now the leading cause of death in the U.S. in people ages 40-79? Also, women have a 38% likelihood of being diagnosed with cancer and men, 40% at present. Those are some high numbers. Common sense tells us to look at what we have done differently in recent years to account for such high numbers- like what products have been introduced into consumers' daily routines in the last several decades.

I have my own crazy ideas about the causes of cancer for which there is no concrete evidence(increased consumption/use of processed foods, toxic chemicals in skincare and makeup, etc.). So, I am going to let you be the judge. I just want people to be more aware, I guess, of what they are eating, drinking, smoking and using in and on their bodies- and to think about why these products are even allowed on the market despite the potential health risks. Basically, I just want people to be more informed. I am a natural pessimist and leery of the information I am given. I think we, as consumers, are shielded from the truth by our government on a variety of topics and for many different reasons.

For example-if it were true (based on completely accurate research) that certain ingredients in deodorant cause Breast Cancer and Alzheimer's Disease, I would venture to guess that 99% of people would find an alternate product to combat body odor. What is the government's interest in deodorant, you ask? Well, they don't have one- other than on a personal level. But they do have an interest in protecting the business interests of their large contributors, including one in particular, Proctor and Gamble. They produce many products including Secret, Safeguard and Old Spice brands of deodorant. Although, on their official website, they deny donating to any particular political party or supporting any particular candidate, P&G gave over $550,000 to federal candidates in the 2008 election through their Political Action Committee. They also contribute millions of dollars per year to lobby for their interests- anywhere from 1.47 to 8 million in 2009, to be exact. So, think about it: If you gave someone some money to, say, protect you from a bully at school (hey, this is a likely scenario), they would do their best. Well, same concept- only it is a big business asking politicians to protect them against the people at the FDA, EPA, etc. in exchange for campaign funds from said big business.

Anyway, that is just one example. There are many more, but I don't want you to think I am some crazy conspiracy theorist or something. Just seek out the truth for yourself, don't believe results of studies without considering who funded them, keep an open mind and do what you can to prevent cancer (as shown above).

Happy Friday!!!

Run Tell That, Homeboy!

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of this new show! I can hardly wait to see what the theme song is going to be! If it is anything like the Bed Intruder song, it is going to be amazing!

If you have lived under a rock for the past year and don't know what I am talking about, just go to youtube.com and search for "Antoine Dodson." He is the internet sensation that became such after he was interviewed by a news reporter following an incident wherein an "idiot from the projects" broke into his apartment (which also happened to be in the projects) and tried to rape his sister. He rose to reality stardom after the Gregory Brothers had some fun auto-tuning his voice and making a fun song out of his interview. It went viral on youtube and the rest is history.

Some don't get what all the fuss is about since he didn't actually have anything to do with the making of the Bed Intruder song. I say, if it wasn't for his larger-than-life personality, there would have been no content for such a song to even be created. So, with all the success of the Bed Intruder song on itunes and youtube.com, he deserves a piece of the pie. Why should the Gregory Brothers reap all the benefits when he is the real star? I am proud of him for working hard and promoting himself as he has. He was able to move his whole family out of the projects and into a nice house. Ain't no shame in his game!

Wow, I have put way too much thought into this.

Anyway, best of luck to Antoine in all his future endeavors! I just might dress up as
my hero for Halloween this year.

Where's The Beef?

If you subscribe to the notion that ignorance is bliss or you happened to eat Taco Bell for lunch, read no further! If not, read this.

You know I've always thought that if people knew where their food came from and how it was produced, they would be less likely to eat half of the junk they do. I'm not one to point a finger. I am guilty of this too. I choose to remain ignorant mostly b/c it is just too gross to think about. I would have to do a complete diet overhaul in order to have complete peace of mind.

For example, do you know what hot dogs are made of? Yeah, neither do I. I have done some research but cannot get a straight answer. But anything that is even partially consisting of "mechanically-separated" meat should make you think twice about eating it. I have graduated to the All-Beef version of the hot dog, but I lose my appetite if I stop and think about what I am eating.
Another thing to think about is all the pesticides that are put on fruits and vegetables. These are chemicals, and no matter how well you wash your food before you eat it, you are going to consume at least small amounts of it. A lot of these chemicals have been studied and are believed to cause different types of cancer. This is scary stuff.

Ever heard of MSG? No, not Madison Square Garden! Monosodium Glutamate. Remember when it was all the rage in use at Chinese buffets? It got a bad rap (and rightfully so!), so a lot of food makers stopped using it or lessened the amounts of MSG that put into foods. Well, don't be fooled. It is still in foods you probably eat everyday. Check this out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't even get me started on what they are putting into fast food to keep us all addicted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not trying to sway my reader (meant to be singular, not a typo) one way or the other. It is just food for thought...no MSG added :)

Crazy Karma

A friend and I were joking around the other day about karma. I remarked that if karma is real, my (hypothetical) kids are sure to turn out ugly, dumb as rocks, and socially awkward due to all of the mean-spirited jokes I have made at the expense of dumb, ugly people. (Mom, don't be mad. I'm talkin' 'bout BEFORE I found Jesus.)

So, I went to Truelifekarma.com to take The Karma Test. I was hoping it would tell me that I had been forgiven of all my evil sins and that I could expect only good things to come my way. I was sorely mistaken. Just like Karma itself, the "test" was a sham. All they wanted was my email address to send me spam. After all, the website boasted, "It is good karma!" That's okay, the joke is on them 'cause I gave them an email address I don't even use anymore. Bam! How's that for karma, Truelifekarma.com? Stings, doesn't it?

Speaking of karma, if it IS real, I wouldn't want to be this guy. As I'm sure you read in my post "Yum. yum, give me...Gun?," you can't just go around shootin' folks anytime you feel like it- especially a Congresswoman! Not to mention, he had the audacity to plead "Not Guilty." Oh, good luck getting a fair trial. One look at those crazy eyes and the jury is going send you to the electric chair.

There I go again judging people! Oh well, the kid has crazy eyes and you know it! I am just stating the obvious. I guess I need to go to prayerrequest.com and pray for my sin of passing judgment to be forgiven.

I See You Eyeballin' The Vodka, Son.

Is this for real??? I don't even have anything funny to say about this. This is just sad and precisely the reason I don't want to have kids...b/c even if my kids don't turn out to be this stupid, these would be their peers.

.
